NextGen Local Impact - Valentine’s Day of Compassion: Feb 2026

What began as a simple idea by a group of young women in our church has grown into one of our favorite annual traditions. Instead of spending Valentine's Day wishing they had someone to celebrate with, they chose a different kind of love, one that gives rather than receives.

They started Valentine's Day of Compassion (VDOC) by visiting a local senior living community, believing that some of the people who need love the most are often the ones who receive it the least.

This year, NextGen had the privilege of continuing that tradition at Saint Mary's in Baltimore. We spent the afternoon playing games, sharing conversations, and listening to the incredible life stories of the residents. What began as a visit to brighten someone else's day quickly became a reminder for us that genuine connection is one of the greatest gifts we can give. As we laughed together and learned from their experiences, we walked away encouraged by the joy that comes from serving others.
